Teaching Philosophy

Our teachers' philosophy of teaching is dedicated to the success of every student.  Our music education program has the ultimate goal of teaching the student to teach themselves, giving them the tools they need for eventual self-instruction years down the road. This well-rounded style of teaching ensures that the student not only learns to perform, but understands what they are playing. The student will then be able to apply what they learn to any song they choose to play in the future.

Lesson planning is tailored to the student's learning style in order to meet the needs of each individual.  We strive to create an environment suitable not only for music instruction, but also music enjoyment.

Students will gain a proficiency in music theory, sight reading, and ear training while expanding their personal repertoire.  Both the guitar and piano teachers encourage their students go beyond the mechanical and learn to express themselves through music by setting and achieving reasonable goals.   For the student who chooses to apply these principals, the results include, but are not limited to:  A genuine sense of accomplishment, the self discipline to persevere, and the reward of a creative outlet that will last a lifetime.

Our music students have the opportunity to display their talents and achievement through recitals and other events throughout the year.
